Sacred Bird & Butterfly Dinner Plate

The Sacred Butterfly was a Chinese export pattern of about 1800 and was intended for those who admired the sophistication of placing traditional Chinese motifs of birds, butterflies and flowers on European shapes. The Chinese word for butterfly, tieh, is a pun which expresses the wish that the owner might live to a ripe age. These motifs were rendered with characteristic understatement in the traditional Chinese orange and gold colors in an all-over pattern. The marriage of shape and design was a success and was reproduced in English china of about 1800-1810. Our reproductions are based on originals in Historic Charleston. Dishwasher safe. • Once a return is received please allow 7-14 days to process and 3-5 business days for the refund to be credited to the payment method used at the time of purchase.
• We do not offer item exchanges for online orders at this time. To exchange an item for a new style/color you must return unwanted item(s) and place a new web order for the desired item(s). Your returned item will be processed and refunded to the original form of payment as long as the item meets our return policy terms. Availability of replacement item is not guaranteed.
• Arrive by dates requested for orders will be noted by our fulfillment team but are not guaranteed due to federal holidays, demand, weather, available inventory and other unforeseen events.
• Orders cannot be canceled due to items arriving past a desired date.
• Custom ordered items are non-refundable and at our sole discretion if they are considered custom due to the varying nature of each of our makers we work with.
